Sport has always been a huge part of my life; playing at regional level for hockey, competing in world championships for Cheerleading, and nationals for Trampolining. For multiple years I struggled with low energy availability and amenorrhea. Back then I was unaware of the term RED-S and the impact low energy availability has on your body and struggled to get the medical help required. It isn’t until now (aged 22) where I am having effects from this, diagnosed with stress fractures/responses and getting bone mineral density scans to see if I am at risk of osteopenia/osteoporosis.

I first started gaining knowledge around the topic of RED-S when I was at Millfield School, following in Meg’s footsteps and taking the opportunity to research, educate and create protocols to identify, monitor and manage athletes at particular risk.

Personal experiences matched with my degree in Sports Therapy and working at Millfield School has really opened my eyes to help support Meg and Matt’s incredible charity to assist in helping other’s who are going through something similar with the aim to prevent, rather than wait until a fracture has occurred for a reaction to take place.
